Here, we share what we find most valuable as routine
practices. We combine the information already shared in this blog and add more
points emphasised time and time again by experts and government authorities. These
should serve as a ready reference for anyone who wishes to be more active in
minimizing the effect of COVID-19 beyond just the obvious points of social
distancing and wearing masks when in public.
Hygiene and sanitation
- Personal hygiene – Washing hands
with soap or using sanitizers frequently or after being exposed to new/external
surroundings is most important.
- Maintain the recommended social
distance and while quarantined at home, do not step outdoors.
- When unwell, keep your personal
belongings away from others, confined to your room (also away from your own children)
i.e. mobile phone, water glass, water bottle, used cups, plates and glasses,
used linen (towel, bed sheet, pillow, etc.).
- A daily shower is great even when
unwell – in our case, we noticed that a hot shower helps the body relax feel
relieved of pain and sickness.
- Use a separate dustbin with a disposable
cover to dispose the used and soiled face mask, toilet tissues, hand tissues,
sanitary napkins etc.
- Observe hygiene and personal
etiquettes while coughing, sneezing or blowing the nose.
- When unwell, avoid moving around
in your house unless necessary; stay confined to a room.
