Introduction: understanding this COVID-19 Remedy Blog

Herbal and natural home remedies can be a great tool given that these mainly comprise of simple natural foods and practices that are easily manageable and usually affordable, yet are proven to be very effective and free from most or all of the side-effects that typical medications may induce. Like any other form of medication, they come with limitations too, but the benefits of such remedies can easily outweigh these limitations and this is slowly being reflected in the recent growth of functional medicine, Ayurveda, fitness trends and nutrition studies.

We combined some traits of these in our fight against the COVID-19 disease and in a continuing effort to reduce susceptibility from the effects of future infection from the SARS-CoV2. We believe our remedies worked and are working great for us, and hence wish to share it with whoever chooses to read this eBook. Given the nature of these remedies, it is fairly safe to say that as long as a person is aware of their allergies and tolerances, it should be beneficial to follow some or all of the remedies shared in this eBook – some for a daily routine and some for symptomatic treatment if affected. We strongly recommend reading through the Preface of this eBook before going ahead, if you have not already done so.

As you read this eBook, you shall see that many remedies shared here are not just beneficial in managing immunity and conditions with relation to the SARS-CoV2 infection but are also useful in treating many other conditions and illnesses and are generally good health practices anyways.

Some facts about food and health

The phrase “you are what you eat” (a) is very aptly said, which means that it is important to eat good food in order to be healthy and fit. Our home kitchens can provide us many ingredients which can help us boost our immunity. Viruses have plenty in common though they may show different ‘onset’ symptoms - some may seem less harmful like the influenza that is a cause of a seasonal flu, but if you are not guarded when attacked by even such a virus, the suffering could be fatal and there are a significant number of people who die of the flu across the globe each year.

The knowledge and learning derived from this eBook is for a lifetime. You could make your own notes to go back and refer. You will be able to create your own recipes as per your body’s defence mechanism.

We are delighted to provide a handful of tried and tested recipes which have unique benefits to fight many an ailments like common colds, coughs, headaches and more.

This eBook also includes special herbal tea recipes to boost one’s immunity to suppress and prevent SARS-CoV2 virus infections.

How does a healthy body fight the SARS-CoV2?

The body is fighting against multiple things when affected by the SARS-CoV2. These are:

  •          The virus itself
  •          Bacterial growth that the virus may open a window to
  •          Symptomatic discomforts and complications that could be caused by COVID-19, e.g. body ache, dry cough, pneumonia, low blood oxygen saturation, etc.

Understanding this, helps prevent and manage the disease well.

Attacking the virus

The body uses antibodies to attack the virus. These anti bodies are basically multiple forms of proteins, which simply goes to say that high quality, complete protein intake is essential.

In the absence of antibodies, or the inability of the body to produce antibodies, it is likely for medical practitioners to employ plasma therapy for COVID-19 treatment.

It is essential to ensure a good protein and vitamin B intake on a daily basis, to keep the body’s immune system working well. Many other components of a balanced diet add to further strengthening immunity, and many topics ahead shall address these.

Arresting bacterial growth

A lot of common kitchen ingredients have strong anti-bacterial properties. These are discussed in the topics ahead.

Symptomatic treatment

Foods and the right amount of hydration seem to play a great role in combatting most symptoms of the COVID-19. Different recipes and ingredients discussed ahead have benefits that help fight different symptoms and having an understanding of these can help manage the disease well.

Why are herbal home remedies a preferred choice?

Almost every drug or medicine we consume show side effects, causing either long term or short term damage to the body. On the contrary, home remedies taken in the right way, do not cause most such side effects apart from allergic reactions (which tend to be known to many individuals) - they are natural and can be used as a strong defence against viruses.

As we all know by now, COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus which spreads very rapidly unlike most other known viruses. At the time of the writing of this eBook, COVID-19 has no exclusively prescribed, dedicated treatment to cure it and a vaccine is much awaited.

The onset symptoms appear to be similar in some ways to getting a common cold, cough or flu but a lot is different too. One of the best ways to stay safe is to be prepared, to be alert and continue a balance of preventive, protective and remedial measures, using the right ones at the right time.
